Our Priorities and Performance

The IMI way is part of our roadmap to success; guiding our decision making and our ability to bring about strategic convergence.

The IMI Way sets out four key responsible business priorities:

  • Health and safety promotes a strong culture to protect our people, the environment, adjacent communities and other stakeholders.  In 2011, we continued to make good progress in our health and safety performance and have introduced a new goal of reaching world class HS&E status by the end of 2013.
  • Supporting our customers’ responsible business priorities is integral to out Key Account Management and fundamental to delivering Engineering Advantage.  We place significant emphasis on helping our customers meet their own responsible business commitments recognising the opportunities for sustainability and developing our respective businesses.
  • Supply chain and manufacturing in lower cost economies is fundamental as we work in partnership with suppliers to develop our engineering advantage.  IMI's manufacturing plants in emerging economies such as Mexico, China, the Czech republic and India have all been developed with full attention to HS&E risks, efficeincy and lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Energy efficiency and carbon management supports our growth drivers of climate change, resource scarcity and urbanisation and are key to delivering customised fluid technology solutions.  Integral to this is managing our own facilities and we have various programs in place to reduce energy consumption and normalised CO2 across our 170 locations around the world.

These are reviewed at least annually to ensure they remain relevant and appropriate. The performance of our businesses is also assessed during an annual responsible business audit and throughout the year via risk control surveys and audits.

Last year we introduced a web-based system for the collection of the annual audit data to further improve the quality and communication of this information.
