Building on the work of previous years, during 2008 significant work was carried out to develop a new IMI Code of Responsible Business entitled “The IMI Way”. This draws together existing and new aspects of our work into a concise framework.

IMI Values

To achieve its goals, IMI has a guiding set of values that exemplify how employees behave. Wherever anyone works in IMI and whenever an IMI employee is encountered, you can expect to see these values at work. The values that make up the IMI Way are:

• IMI people pursue excellence and deliver results
• IMI people innovate and provide value to our customers
• IMI people act with integrity

IMI Way

Our Code of Responsible Business is a guide to help all employees consistently demonstrate their commitment to the IMI Way throughout our worldwide operations. It can help determine the right course of action, for instance, in a feedback conversation with a colleague, in negotiations with a major customer or supplier, in an assessment of our health and safety performance or in a review of product innovations.

The Code has two sections:

A. The Code’s purpose and how our values underpin it

This section covers a number of areas including:

• How the Code works and how it is applied
• The four IMI Responsible Business Initiatives
• Health and Safety
• Supporting our customers’ priorities
• Supply chain and manufacturing in low cost economies
• Energy efficiency
• The IMI hotline – a totally anonymous reporting tool that can be used by any employee to report anything which is contrary to the spirit and letter of the Code

B. The principal corporate policies on responsible business
This section provides an overview of IMI’s responsible business policies that apply across the Group including all platform and operating companies. It covers our interaction and dealings with a number of stakeholders including:

2. Colleagues (pages 26 to 29)
3. Shareholders (pages 30 to 25)
4. Business partners (pages 36 to 40)
5. Communities (pages 41 to 42)
