Age 67; non-executive; joined the Board in 1988; appointed Chairman in 1989. Sir Eric has widespread experience in industry including 15 years leading a major listed company as Chief Executive of Tarmac and then as its Chairman. He was knighted in 1985 for his services to export. Chairman of James Beattie. Other directorships include Tay Homes Plc.
  

G J Allen CBE DL Executive
Deputy Chairman
Age 56; joined IMI in 1965; appointed to the Board in 1978, as Chief Executive in 1986 and as Executive Deputy Chairman in 2001. Mr Allen has over 30 years experience in engineering with IMI including 23 years on the Board. He was awarded a CBE in 1991. Non-executive directorships include The London Stock Exchange and N V Bekaert (Belgium).
 
     
 

M J Lamb
Chief Executive
Age 40; joined IMI in 1985; appointed to the Board in 1996 and as Chief Executive on 4 January 2001. Mr Lamb has extensive experience of engineering and managed several major businesses within the Group before his present appointment. Non-executive director of Fairey Group Plc.

  
     
   
 
T J Slack Finance Director
Age 54; joined IMI in 1976; appointed to the Board in 1997. Mr Slack joined IMI as a management accountant 25 years ago and has broadly based experience of operational and financial management and accounting matters having spent over 10 years in operations and a further 11 years as Financial Controller before his appointment to the Board. Finance Director and also responsible for the company secretarial, legal, investor relations, human resources, risk management and property functions.

  
 
 
R B Pointon Executive Director
Age 54; joined IMI in 1981; appointed to the Board in 1994. Mr Pointon is an engineer with over 30 years experience in industry and managed several major subsidiaries of IMI for 12 years prior to his appointment to the Board. Responsible for major business development initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, global procurement, e-commerce, emerging markets and technology innovation. Non-executive director of Shanks Group plc.		  
 
 

Sir Chips Keswick
Age 61; non-executive; joined the Board in 1994. Sir Chips brings to IMI his experience in banking and financial matters as Chief Executive and then as Chairman of Hambros. Other directorships include The Bank of England, De Beers, The Edinburgh Investment Trust and Persimmon.
 
 

I A N McIntosh
Age 62; non-executive; joined the Board in 1989. Mr McIntosh gives IMI the benefit of his specialist skills in corporate finance and financial and securities markets from a career with HSBC Investment Bank plc of which he was Vice Chairman. Other directorships include Kwik-Fit Holdings plc.
 
 

B L Staples
Age 55; non-executive; joined the Board in 2000. Mr Staples is Chief Executive of Amey plc, the infrastructure management and business process outsourcing group. Prior to joining Amey in 1997 he was Chief Executive of United Utilities plc. Other directorships include RJB Mining PLC.
